Vintage gobeläng flatweave rug designed by Barbro Nilsson in 1955. Handwoven at Märta Måås-Fjetterström AB, Båstad, Sweden. Marked AB MMF and BN (artist’s initials).

Tånga is one of Barbro Nilsson\'s most enduring and characteristic gobeläng flatweave rugs. The design reflects Nilsson’s refined sense of rhythm and proportion, combining subtle shifts in color and structure to create a calm yet dynamic surface inspired by seaweed along the local beaches. Over the decades, it has been woven in a range of colorways, each maintaining the harmonious balance that has made the design a favorite among collectors and architects alike.

MATERIALS AND CAREThe rug is hand-woven in wool on a linen warp. Wool is naturally stain-resistant and should not be washed too frequently, as this can strip the natural oils that protect the fibers.

To ensure even wear, rotate the rug periodically. Regular vacuuming is beneficial, but avoid vacuuming the braided edges and refrain from using a vacuum with rotating brushes.
