This vintage rug was handwoven by the artisans of Ben Guerir which is a village within the Rhamna province.
Located an hour north of Marrakech this rug technique is more known by the colors they use than the specific knot technique.
This weaving style is called Boucherouite.
Boucherouite (pronounced boo-shay-reet) rugs were not originally intended to be sold as they were mostly used by the Amazigh in their own homes, as modest carpets. Some called them \'rag rugs\' as they are made of various recycled pre-used clothing or textile scraps.
