The monarch butterfly migrates from Canada to Mexico in order to survive. The same is true of humans, but borders are a human social construct.The monarch and eucalyptus theme is part of one of my earliest memories, visiting a monarch grove in Pismo Beach, CA where they migrate through and perch in the trees. If the sun is just right, the butterflies resemble the seed pods of the eucalyptus, camouflaging their bodies in plain sight.
A portion of all monarch-themed pieces is donated to ACLU Washington in support of immigrant rights.
