Big, bold, beautiful, and blue. Sodalite is the star in this dramatic vintage pendant. A generously-sized oval slab of intensely saturated, mottled blue is bezel set in a simple frame of beaded silver. The substantial pendant hangs on a vintage sterling silver rope chain. Circa 1920.

During the 1920s Chinese design was all the rage. Women adorned themselves in jewelry from China and carved gemstones in traditional Chinese designs were very popular. Sodalite is a member of the feldspathoid mineral group and a very popular stone in Chinese jewelry.
