This unique Nativity set includes Mary, Joseph, the Baby Jesus, and animals in a sleek, modern sculpture set. It is hand-carved from natural color soapstone*. Expect slight variations as kisii stone naturally varies in color from white to pinkish brown. Figurine designs may also vary from images here.

Handmade in Kenya

Materials: natural soapstone*

Approximate dimensions: 4 in. tall for largest piece; Baby Jesus is about 1.5 in. X 1 in.

*Soapstone is mined from great pits in the area surrounding Kiisi, Kenya. The mined soapstone is then delivered to carvers who carve sculptures from the natural stone. Once carved, the craftspeople smooth rough edges of the soapstone with sandpaper dipped in water and polish the piece to a high gloss.
