The McRae 8\" Hot Weather Black Jungle Boot (9189) is the original-generation tropical combat boot. Proudly 100% USA-made and Berry Amendment compliant, it features a rugged upper combining black full-grain leather with authentic 1000 Denier Cordura™ nylon. Equipped with nylon-coated brass drainage vents, this boot is specifically engineered to expel water and dry rapidly in hot, humid, and amphibious environments.
Built for absolute durability, this classic model utilizes the traditional Direct Molded Sole (DMS) vulcanization process. This seamlessly fuses the upper directly to the solid rubber Panama outsole, creating a bond of unprecedented strength. Featuring mil-spec oil, acid, and slip resistance, this original-spec boot remains a trusted, ultra-durable mainstay for allied militaries and tactical professionals worldwide.

DMS stands for Direct Molded Sole. It is a traditional military manufacturing process that uses extreme heat and pressure to melt the solid rubber outsole directly into the leather and canvas upper. This creates a remarkably durable, watertight seal and an unbreakable bond without the need for traditional heavy stitching that can rot or fray in the jungle.
While the standard US military issue has transitioned to newer uniform standards, the McRae 9189 remains an active, trusted mainstay for several allied foreign militaries. It is also highly sought after by tactical professionals, surveyors, and outdoor enthusiasts who require the unmatched durability of a solid rubber, vulcanized sole.
Because the 9189 uses the original DMS vulcanization process without a modern foam midsole, it has a stiffer, much more rigid feel out of the box. While the Cordura™ nylon panels are immediately flexible, the sole and leather heel counter will require a brief break-in period for the boot to achieve maximum comfort.
