A rare 1960s Danish Mid Century teak armchair designed by Grete Jalk for France & Daverkosen/France & Søn.


The chair has loose cushions and on tapering turned legs.


The teak frame has been sanded and danish oiled. The armchair has new webbing, new fire retardant cushions, reupholstered in fabric mainline flax, colourway \'Moorgate\' by Camira.

Grete Jalk (1920-2006) was a pioneering Danish furniture designer who was celebrated for her elegant, functional, and forward-thinking designs. A graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Jalk emerged as a key figure in mid-century modernism, blending simplicity with innovation. Her most iconic creation, the 1963 GJ Chair, exemplifies her mastery of moulded plywood, combining structural beauty with ergonomic comfort. Jalk was deeply committed to democratic design, creating furniture that was both aesthetically refined and accessible. Her work remains a cornerstone of Danish design heritage.
