History & Movement

The Tissot Navigator Chronograph comes from the late 1960s–early 1970s era when Tissot, Omega, and Lemania were all part of the same SSIH group. This collaboration produced some of the most respected manual-wind chronographs of the period. Inside this model is the Tissot/Lemania Caliber 872, part of the same movement family as the Lemania 1873/Omega 861 used in the Speedmaster “Moonwatch,” but configured in a bi‑compax layout without the third subdial. Production of the 872-powered Navigators was relatively short, generally around 1969 through the early 1970s, making surviving examples increasingly desirable. Collectors value this model for its Moonwatch lineage, clean dial layout, and the reliability of the Lemania architecture.
