Ilmari Tapiovaara (1914–1999) was a Finnish designer who worked under Le Corbusier in Paris in the 1930s and is celebrated as one the Finnland\'s most important 20th-century designers, including a two year period as artistic director for powerhouse Asko. This set of stools (sold separately) are a rare collaboration with design collective La Permanente Mobili near Cantù - probably for the 11th Milan Triennale in 1957. Classic Scandinavian dowelled construction with an Italian flair of leather strapping for the base with an exquisitely crafted/stitched generous leather cushion for the top. Rare - Italy, 1957.
